Stress Free Travel

Stress free travel

Getting to your holiday destination can be the most stressful part. We’ve come up with some tips for getting prepared for your holiday with minimum amounts of fuss.

Bureau De Change

Give yourself enough time to shop around for the best exchange rates for your holiday money. There is always a Bureau de Change at the airport, but you might be able to find a better rate elsewhere.

Organise your travel insurance and EHIC

Don’t forget to arrange your travel insurance before you travel. Insurance must be taken out before you leave home for your holiday, so this is one to do in advance. Traveladder.co.uk allows you to compare tailored travel insurance quotes, so that you can be sure of getting the right level of cover for your trip. If you’re travelling in Europe, make sure that you’ve got a valid EHIC as well, as this works in lots of countries, and entitles you to the same level of medical care as you’d receive if you were a resident in the country you’re visiting.

Check in onlline

Most airlines now allow you to check in online, and either print out your boarding passes at home or use a mobile app. You can usually do this a couple of weeks before you travel. Checking in online also means you’re usually allocated a seat, so you won’t have to queue at the departure gate.

Leave with plenty of time to spare

Your travel insurance usually won’t cover a missed flight if it’s because you were late to the airport. Make sure that you leave yourself enough time to get to the airport, and take things like traffic and security check queues into consideration. Arriving early also means more time for…

Duty free shopping

Shopping is one of the main perks of getting to the airport early. If you’re travelling outside the EU, you’ll get Duty Free rates, and sometimes you can claim tax back. If you’re planning to do a lot of shopping, it’s worth checking to see what the cigarette and alcohol limits are for the countries you’re travelling to and from.

Get to the departure gate in time

Some airport departure gates are a long walk from the main departure lounges. Make sure you know how far away your gate is, and how long it will take to get to it.

Enjoy the flight

Most airlines now allow you to use mobile phones, ereaders and other electronic devices throughout the flight, as long as they are in flight mode.

Have a great trip!
