Encephalitis is an uncommon but serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed (swollen). Usually life-threatening it requires urgent treatment in hospital. Some people will eventually make a full recovery from encephalitis, although this can be a long and frustrating process, but many people never make a full recovery and are left with long-term problems due to damage to their brain. This makes it important to include on your travel insurance if you want to have any medical cover. Add medical cover by declaring any and all pre-existing medical conditions on our system, including your Encephalitis and any related conditions. We make it easy, all you need to do is search for Encephalitis when asked to add conditions, then answer the related questions. Don't forget to add any other conditions you have and we will then be able to provide a selection of travel insurance quotes to meet your needs. Please remember that when travelling in Europe, it is important to make sure that you also have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
Travel insurance policies that cover Encephalitis will cover you if you have any complications relating to your encephalitis, or any related or other added conditions, while you are on holiday. While abroad you will have access to a 24 hour emergency medical assistance or help line, with operators fluent in many languages who can speak to medical staff for you. The medical expenses section of a policy also commonly covers additional expenses such as ambulance and hospital admission costs, and repatriation to the UK. An important aspect for those with Encephalitis is that you will also get cover for cancellation meaning that if you were deemed unable to travel before your holiday, for reasons relating to your encephalitis and any linked conditions or any other declared pre-existing conditions, you would be entitled to make a claim.
We have a simple screening process that makes it easy to compare travel insurance policies that can cover encephalitis along with any resulting conditions and any other medical conditions you might have. When applying for a quote you will be asked some questions about your trip that will include questions about your medical health. After this you will be able to add conditions by searching for them and clicking add condition. Each condition has some of it's own questions to answer such as any related conditions you may have, whether it has interfered with your activities or daily living, and about any treatments or surgeries you have had or are currently undertaking. With these answers we will be able to assess your current health situation, and should be able to show you a selection of travel insurance quotes that have the cover that you want or need.
