Scoliosis is the twisting or curving of the spine and can affect people of any age with the cause being unknown for the majority of cases. Most with scoliosis are able to live normal lives and don't usually experience significant pain or other health problems, for those that it does the most common issue is back pain. Treatment depends on the individuals age, how severe the scoliosis is and whether it's likely to get worse. many do not need treatment however it is important to include it on your travel insurance if you want to have medical cover on your policy. Our system makes declaring any pre-existing medical conditions easy so there is no reason not to add conditions such as scoliosis or related conditions like back pain, simply search for and add each condition, answer the questions related to the condition and we should then be able to provide a list of policies that suits your specific needs. Please remember it is also important to make sure that you have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) when travelling in Europe.
With a travel insurance policy that covers your scoliosis, if there are any complications or something exacerbates it while you are on holiday you will have access to a 24 hour emergency medical assistance line, with operators fluent in many languages who can speak to the local medical staff for you. The medical expenses section of your policy commonly covers other medical related expenses such as ambulance and hospital admission costs, and repatriation to the UK. Cover for cancellation would mean that if you were deemed unfit to travel before your holiday, for reasons relating to your scoliosis or another declared pre-existing or related conditions, you would be entitled to make a claim.
